Hi Abigail! I am glad you enjoyed the book. It was probably Kitten Kaboodle if the cover was blue. That is the first book in the series – or it WAS! The series has had a makeover and the first book is now called The Kitten Hunt and the cover is yellow! It’s the same story inside, but the cover is a bit funkier now! Thanks for your comment. Anna π

Hi Anna. My daughter likes reading your books and she has chosen to write about you as an Author. We can find some information on the Net but not enough. Would you mind mailing me with some interesting facts please. Date born, where you were born, etc. Just a little bit about you as a person and when you decided to be an Author. My daughter is reading Pup Idol at the moment. ππ
Hi Anna Wilson! I love your books and have read pretty much all of them! Puppy Party is my favourite as I love Labradors.

Hi Anna,

Youβre doing amazingly! Please donβt stop writing, youβre too awesome at it.
Hi Anna, Hope all is well.
My daughters have enjoyed all of your books that I purchased recently. We are looking forward to getting the rest of your Vlad books too.
On a different note, thanks to Arvon and thanks to your lovely comments on my Grandmother’s story, I have now finished my first chapter. I was wondering if you would like to read it? I understand that you are very busy, but as I recall, you were interested to read it when we spoke. I am quite pleased with the way it has turned out and I am really hoping that I could publish it one day. So, I would really appreciate it if you could give me any feedback at all. Please let me know if you’d like to browse through my first chapter. In that case, may I have your email address please? Many thanks, Gili
Hi Gili. Lovely to hear from you! I am sorry for the delay in replying but I have a new puppy and it is proving very difficult indeed to get anything done! I would love to see how you are getting along but just can’t promise I would have any time to give feedback I’m afraid as I am finding it hard enough to get any of my own work done! If you would like my email address could I ask that you direct message me on Twitter as I don’t like to give out my email via this site. I am @acwilsonwriter on Twitter. Many thanks.
Hi Anna! I love your books SO MUCH. My favourite is the Top of the Pups series – it made me laugh so much. You are an AMAZING author!!!!

Hi Celyn – that is great to hear! Do you mean what is my favourite from the books I have written? Or do you mean which is the favourite book I have have ever read? If you mean the first, then I think my favourite is Summer’s Shadow which is a ghostly mystery for young teen readers. But I also am rather fond of Monkey Business and Monkey Madness which I wrote for younger readers. As for the best book I have read, I find that question very hard to answer as I love so many books! I think maybe I have not found my favourite book yet….. I do love the Narnia books, Pippi Longstocking and also Winnie-the-Pooh! Hope this answers your questions. Best wishes, Anna
Hello Anna,
I work on an NHS inpatient mental health unit for older adults and we have loved using your Almanac to spark discussion in groups and found it a great way of connecting to nature. As a result of Covid-19 most of our patients are issolated in their rooms and sharing of resources is limited due to infection control. We are producing weekly newsletters for patients with positive stories and activities and wondered if it would be possible to include some of the text and images from your book? I’m sorry I don’t have a good understanding of copyright so not to worry if this is not possible but I thought it was worth a try. It would only be shared with the ward and we would state clearly where we got it. Many thanks
Hi Shaan
First of all I want to thank you for the amazing work you and your colleagues are doing. My family has had to use mental health services in the past and I can only imagine how much more difficult things are right now. And also
many thanks for getting in touch. It is wonderful to know that you are using the Almanac in this way. I am going to have to pass your query on to my publisher if that is OK. I am sure we can work something out. Is it possible to have your full name and email please?
Stay safe.

Hi Aly
Thanks so much for letting me know how much your class is enjoying Vlad! I am afraid there are no more books in the series. Vlad has had his happy ending! It is wonderful to know that the stories have inspired drawings and writing from your class. I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!

I love your book about your mother. Raw, honest and with a lot of compassion. The story is very familiar; my mum was diagnosed at 82, 4 years after my father died. My sister and I made a short film about our worries and how to find a good home for her. I am proud to say the film is now being used for education of healthcare professionals. I would love to share it with you. More info and a trailer can be found on Typischmatty.nl. It is in Dutch though …. Let me know if you are interested and I can maybe translate it for you.
My next project will focus on what it is like to have a parent with ASD. I know many of us are struggling in life and do not receive appropriate care. I would very much appreciatie to get in contact to hear your thoughts about this.
Hi Petra
Thank you for taking the time to get in touch – I very much appreciate it. I am sorry to hear that you and your family have been through similar things. I will look at your film. (Although I don’t speak Dutch!) I agree that getting support for those whose parents have ASD is hard. The focus now is on getting better support for the person who has ASD themselves, which is of course so important. But I do hope that we might get to the point where family members also get the support they need. I often think that if I had understood why Mum was how she was – and how her brain worked! – I would have been so much more understanding and compassionate.
All the best
Anna
Hi Anna, I am promoting your book in my autism network in the Netherlands as I want everybody to read it! For example, Iβve been asked to write a review about your book for the Dutch society of childeren with autistic parents kindvanauti.nl. Did you manage to see the trailer of the film about my mother? I can send you the link of the full movie by e-mail if you are interested. I am planning to translate the film in English, with subtitles. If you know anyone or autism societies in UK who would be interested in the film It would be very helpfull.
Hi Petra. This is wonderful news! Thank you so much. I have watched your trailer and, although I couldn’t understand everything (I speak German so can work out a little!) I got the gist I think, but it would be lovely to have a translation.
I was particularly struck by the way your mum pulled her hands away when she was being helped to get up. That was my mum’s reaction to being touched when she didn’t want it!! I felt very moved by watching your mum as it brought back memories of my own mother. What a wonderful thing you are doing, making a film like this.
I don’t have any control over publication rights, but I can try to find out who would be the best person for you to contact. Am I able to pass on your email address?
Mine is acwilsonwriter@gmail.com
Thank you so much for getting in touch. It is very humbling to think of my book out there in the world and being used in this way. I think in a strange way Mum would be proud, although she wouldn’t like the idea of people talking about her!

Hi Katy! Lovely to hear from you. My advice to you would be to write a little in a journal every day. Practice makes perfect! Also read as much as you can and as widely as you can – the more you read, the better you’ll get at writing. Notice how other writers do what they do. How do they shape their stories? How do they make their characters come alive? Etc. Finally I would say try to finish a whole story. Lots of people give up halfway. Once you have finished, enter a competition. There’s nothing like a deadline to focus the mind! For more tips I would recommend reading this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Writing-Childrens-Fiction-Writers-Companions/dp/1408156873/ref=asc_df_1408156873/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=344350219917&hvpos=1o4&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14364970350332628152&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045945&hvtargid=pla-727603735884&psc=1&th=1&psc=1 it is written by a couple of friends of mine and it is full of excellent tips! Good luck. π

Dear Julie, Thank you so much for your response to my book. It breaks my heart that so many of us have had these battles (and are still having them). I take hope from researchers such as Dr Francesca HappΓ© (I thoroughly recommend listening to her on Radio 4’s The Life Scientific) and clinicians such as Professor Tony Atwood who are doing great work in spreading the information needed to get better and faster diagnoses for women. The guilt is the hardest thing to battle. We all do the best we can with the resources that we have. We need better resources! All the best to you and your family.
